RESULTS / ERGEBNISSE

The two-day World Team Championships took place in Muscat, Oman, the first-ever global athletics event in the country.

On Friday (Sunday is a working day in Oman) in hot and humid conditions, the Chinese completely dominated, won all six gold coins and in the individual "U20" and women's 20 km races on the podium in two.

In the women's 35-kilometer race, Indka Priyanka embarked on a daring escape, and at the tenth kilometer her lead was almost two and a half minutes. Behind her was an eleven-member group of pursuers, whose tail was held by Tereza Ďurdiaková. Just around the 10-kilometer mark, however, she began to lose contact with the best. The Chinese competitor Maocuo Li was the first to prosecute the Indian competitor. Priyanka's lead was pulled down hard until she got in front of her around the fifteenth kilometer, which was subsequently successful for other competitors as well, and Indka gradually fell through the starting field.

Maocuo Li was in the lead at the 20th kilometer and the second Ecuadorian Glenda Morejón lost 26 seconds to her. However, the South American pedestrian had a great time and over the next four kilometers erased the Chinese woman's lead and gradually began to move away from her. She then comfortably ran for the Omani primacy at 2:48:33, setting a basic championship record, as this route was run for the first time. Chinese Maocuo Li clearly defended the silver medal at 2:50:56. Bronze travels to Poland thanks to Katarzyna Zdzieblová (2:51:48). Tereza Ďurdiaková passed the finish line as the nineteenth in 3:12:21.

The team competitions clearly belonged to the Ecuadorians (12 points). They were then accompanied to the podium by Spaniards (28 points) and Chinese (29 points).

The Slovak Miroslav Úradník took the pace at the men's thirty-five and was in the lead with a slight lead over all favorites until the eighth kilometer. Subsequently, however, he was overtaken and the leading group engulfed him. Unfortunately, Vít Hlaváč was no longer there. The official remained very active and alternated with Chinese and Spanish fighters in dictating the pace. After about one hour and twenty minutes, the Slovak national team decided to start and tried to shake off its opponents. However, he did not succeed, and the leading group of about fifteen was back together.

Another daredevil who tried to escape the favorites was Finn Aleksi Ojala. However, his arrival was not successful either. Subsequently, the Swede Perseus Karlström took over, who managed to tear up the leading group, and at that moment only the Spaniard Alvaro Martin was able to accept his pace. The decisive moment in the battle for victory then came at the 32nd kilometer, when Karlström broke away from his juice and set out to meet the triumph, which he also completed in 2:36:14. With this performance, he also set the value of the championship record. Martin ran for silver for 2:36:56 and a successful Spanish day was completed by the bronze Miguel Angel Lopez (2:37:27). Vít Hlaváč finished the race in 21st place in 2:43:14.

The Spanish team (16 points) dominated the team competition ahead of China (29 points) and Germany (48 points). The men's 20-kilometer race was without Czech participation and became the prey of Japanese pedestrians. He won Toshikazu Yamanishi in time 1:22:59 in front of his compatriot Koki Ikeda (1:23:29). Kenyan Samuel Gathimba finished third (1:23:52). The Ecuadorians (25 points) won the team competition ahead of Japan (26 points) and China (45 points).

ZAJÍČEK 13., MORÁVEK DON'T FINISHED

With regard to the conditions, Jaromír Morávek entered the junior ten boldly and insanely. He walked alone at the very beginning of the race and after the first two-kilometer circuit he built a 20-second lead. However, the group of pursuers, which did not miss the second of the Czech pair, Adam Zajíček, pulled the loss to a quarter in the next 2 km round and Morávka had already swallowed up half of the track. The difficulty of the conditions is evidenced by the fact that the better half of the 35-head starting field was here in a very slow time at 23:07.

The Turkish racer Mazlum Demir took care of another excitement. He also built a solid distance (10 s after 7 km), but the scenario was similar to the Czech daredevil. He was overtaken in about three quarters of the race and did not even make the top ten in the final. The difference was that the group behind Demir had already disbanded and a pair of Chinese had entered the last round. Morávek kept in the game for the elite ten, Bunny around the middle of the field. Until the final kilometer, Zeng and Wang made Ind Amit at the top, but did not reach the finish line - he was disqualified for breaking the rule of contact with the country 4 times.

Of the Chinese, Wang Hongren was clearly faster when he triumphed at 44:06. His compatriot Zeng Yu headed for silver, but did not resist Diego Giampola's finish. The Italian showed the fastest last two kilometers from the whole field (7:59) and pulled the loss to the winner against the goal of 8 km in the finish from 19 to 8 seconds. Zeng took bronze in the same performance as Giampaola - 44:14. Kenyan Wafula also sought the medal, arriving four seconds from the Italian-Chinese pair. Despite the subsequent minute penalty, he remained fourth, just ahead of the Colombian Romero (45:18 vs. 45:20).

Adam Zajíček finished 46th, almost three minutes behind the best in 56:XNUMX. Unfortunately, he was the only pedestrian of ours to reach the finish line, Jaromír Morávek had to take care of doctors in the last round. (We can find out more information.) The team was not classified as such, which is a pity, as the result in the second ten would secure the Czech pair the worst fifth place - fourth Colombia had a total of 25, fifth Australia 36. China (4 points) before Italy (10), in addition to Gaimpao, was also Lomuscio in the top ten, and the Spaniards (13), also in the top two.

MARTÍNKOVÁ AT THE TWENTY 27., THE CHINESE IS DOMINATING

No tactics, despite the challenging conditions and also the track, on which there was a 3% ascent / descent in each round, twenty women have gone awry since the start and something like the main package no longer existed during the opening circuit. Very soon - already during the first quarter of the track - a trio of future medalists also crystallized: the Chinese Yang Jiayu and Ma Zhenxia and the Peruvian Kimberly García Leónová.

Before the start, the Czech representative Eliška Martínková was very critical not only of the weather conditions on her Instagram, but also of the elevated track. She therefore began her international 20 km debut cautiously, settling in the top ten of the 49-member field from the start. In the middle of the race, she lost seven minutes to the front in 33rd place (52:04).

The leading trio appeared in the top ten after less than a quarter of an hour's walk (44:57), but then their paths parted ways. In the sixth circuit (ie between the 10th and 12th km), the Chinese shook off the Peruvian rival, and then it was only a matter of first place between them. And it was a bit surprisingly the Asian champion from 2019 Ma, who also worked a large part of the track at the head, who was pulling against the world record holder and world champion 2017 Yangová for a longer end of the rope. They were still together at the 15 km run (1:07:32), but shortly before the next official split time (after 16 km), Ma began to move away from the Yangs.

In the end, everyone visibly ran out of energy, including the leading Maas, but the 23-year-old Chinese woman watched her lead without any problems and won at 1:30:22. Her three-year-old compatriot Yang, over whom the threat of a two-minute penalty hung with two red targets hung, so she guarded the second position. Her loss thus increased to a minute and a half, she appeared at the finish line in 1:31:54. In the end, the bronze García Leónová was closer to her, who lost two minutes to the winner (1:32:27). There was an even smaller difference between the Peruvian and Mexican González, who reached the podium for 18 seconds (1:32:45). The fifth was Japanese Fujii another half minute ago.

In the second half of the track, Eliška Martínková lost another minute to the winner for a total of fifteen minutes. On the other hand, she had a second ten just a minute and a quarter slower (53:22). Thanks to a reasonable pace, she appeared in the finish at 1:45:26 in 27th place, ie in the middle of the field.

Only four teams were classified in the team competition - three competitors were needed in the finish. Gold traveled to China, the medalists were supported by the seventh Yang Liujing (10 points). Behind them and between them, there were great distances;

CHINA HAS DOMINATED JUNIORS

Valerija Šolomická - the only representative of Ukraine at the World Championships, who got to Oman mainly due to the fact that was preparing for a camp in Turkey. Before the start, she wiped away a tear at a pre-launch reminder of Russian aggression in her homeland - several athletes held the Ukrainian flag, President WA Coe laid flowers in blue-gold. And then Šolomická was fully concentrated on the race, she was active in front and in the middle of the track she pulled the leading group (20 km in 36:8). After seven kilometers, she held on, but then a pair of Chinese women took office and the Ukrainian woman lost a lot. In the end, however, she won fourth place, albeit with a great loss for the bronze medal.

Heta Veikkolaová took a significant part in the fight for precious metals, she was in second place for a while, she appeared third in the finish for 48:11. The Chinese rivals were 8 and 23 seconds faster, respectively. Jiang Jinyan won the silver in 48:03, Jiang Yunyan another quarter of a minute before the compatriot, ie in 47:48.

Of course, the Chinese women did not have competition in the team competition (3 points). The Australians (12) took silver when Sandery was fifth and Pitcher was seventh. Bronze medals went to the necks of the Spaniards (20). The Czechs did not start.
