More than 52 years ago, the German racer Christoph Höhne entered the history of world walking. On October 17, 1968, he won the first Olympic Olympic athletics medal for the then GDR (today's Germany), when he won the race at the Mexican Olympics in a 50km walk with a huge lead in 4: 20: 14 hours. Also as a Masters racer he continues to win at the Veterans World Championships and European Championships.

At the 50km walk, the SC Dynamo Berlin competitor won the first Olympic Olympic athletics medal for the then GDR (today's Germany) at the Summer Olympics in Mexico on October 17, 1968, which was then allowed to start as an independent team for the first time.

"This Olympic victory has made me popular, I'm also very proud of it," says Höhne, who celebrated his 80th birthday in February! Höhne, currently living in Fürstenwalde, won the Olympic race by more than ten minutes ahead of Hungarian Antal Kiss. "There was a lot of luck in that, but I was also very diligent. It also includes respect for my opponents, but I knew I could win," adds Höhne.

Christoph Höhne is a regular participant in the "Prague Walking Watch" and today, on average, he receives letters from abroad once a week asking for his signature. Due to his age and several diseases, he appeals to "autograph hunters" to hurry ........ we believe that we will see him many more times in Prague and we will have the honor to meet him again.

He concludes that he runs a health sport every other day.
