Jaroslav Morávek in the hellish heat (35ºC) ran for his first senior title of Czech Champion, with 35km in the legs! In the women's category, Ema Klimentová won the title.

RESULTS

After last year's successful premiere of the adult 10m race walking championship, when this race was graced by Vit Hlaváč a new national record, this year's championship competition was held in the same spirit as the indoor competition. The walkers met at a stadium together with the all-rounders and, as usual, took over the track on Sunday. And even though three walkers had already spoken in the spring about their desire to break the national record, the date of the event did not allow for fast times. Unfortunately, on Sunday 15.6. it was Benešov near Prague It was truly hellish and clearly the hottest day of the year so far. Although the symbiosis with the all-around events is quite successful, for future years, at least the start of the longest race should ideally be adjusted to 8 a.m. The start of the 10 m race shortly after noon is a regular hazard to the health of competitors, judges and girls at the refreshment station. Yes, Let's not forget that the team of referees, led by Martin Nedvídek from Rumburk, did an incredible job together with the technical crew. The inflated schedule de facto did not even allow for a chance to step into the shade, and these athletics workers spent more than 3 hours at a time in the hot stadium! Considering the average age of our judges, when the fifty-year-old Nedvídek is actually the youngest, this is an admirable and underappreciated performance. For the competitors themselves, the Benešov stadium was a real hit on the head, because there is a beautiful training tunnel under the stands and the competitors could at least be in the shade and in an acceptable environment before the races.

After the multi-athletes had finished their runs over short obstacles, the track was cleared for pedestrians. After 11 a.m., the thermometer in the sun was only 35 degrees.° C. At the joint start of the juniors and seniors, the competitors had 12,5 laps without shade. The refreshment station with cold water for pouring and sponges was prepared perfectly, but 35ºC is 35ºC. The first two / two at the finish line talked about the nomination for the MU U 18. The international four-way match CZE - HUN - POL - SVK will be held on 29.6. in Brno

A trio took the lead from the start of the race Mochal - Plecháček - Rösler. With distance, he traditionally began more deliberately Vejvančický. Liberec Dan Mochal He led from the start of the race and didn't let anyone pass him until the finish. He was aiming for a time under 22 minutes, but on a hot day he can be at 22:53.69 satisfied. His inHowever, the victory was ultimately less convincing than expected.

Rosler PrucknerHalfway through the race he led by 6 seconds, 2 laps before the finish his lead was at 30 seconds. But the Mladá Boleslav Marek Rösler not wanting to settle for bronze, he ran over the solidifying Tin can and Mochala pulled hard. In the end, they were separated by less than 10 seconds at the finish. He set a personal best of 23:03,97. The bronze was defended by the Turnov native Ondřej Plecháček 23:20.36. During the race, the Rumburk native lost Vejvančicky up to 40 seconds, in the end he dug up the potato again, but he was far from a medal and finished in a personal track record of 23:34.42. On a hot day, the top four put on a great show and excellent performances.

Among the juniors, the clear favorite was the Frýdek-Místek team. Eliška Říhová and from the beginning she went her race and in a time of 26:59.78 she hung another gold championship medal around her neck. The pair fought for the other medals Lighthouse - Vankovaso that they are gradually overtaken by the Beroun River Emma Mulacová. This novice among walkers has presented herself with a very well-mastered walking technique since the first races and her performance from Poděbrady (27:46) made her a candidate for a medal. She managed to improve her performance from Poděbrady and on the verge of exhaustion on the hot track she won the championship silver medal, a personal record of 27:20.83 and also the national jersey. The pair Maják - Vaňková fought for the bronze medal for a long time and it was the walker from Kadaň Noemi Majak, who climbed to the bronze podium with a time of 28:35.95. Veronika Vaňková she ended up losing more than 30 seconds on it.

Just before noon, the girls set off to meet the 25-wheelers. Unfortunately, 2 juniors who had registered were disqualified by the technical delegate for not meeting the time limit, so the pair Kokořová - Kyselicová knew in advance that medals would not be awarded (there must be at least 3 athletes at the start). Nevertheless, both of them fearlessly started on a hot day with the prospect of zero reward. Even though they, like the juniors and youth, were fighting for a nomination for MU. The juniors will take place in Hungary on July 19.7. , juniors and juniors will have 5000m and will compete with the home team and with representatives from Croatia, Poland and Slovakia. Eliška Kokořová She finished the race in 60:21.44 and Ema Kyselicová she performed 60:50.34. So at least the rep reward will hopefully be waiting for the girls.

As expected, the pair dominated the 10m race Klimentová - Franklová. The training colleagues took turns in the lead and went really fast. They were ahead of the other walkers lap after lap and the loud audience was looking forward to an interesting conclusion. Less than 2 km before the finish line, she attacked Ema Klimentová and quickly built a lead. A performance of 48:29.49 is of great value on a hellish day. She also showed an excellent performance Elizabeth Frankl, who even managed to improve her track OR to 48:51.02. Things were happening in the fight for bronze. In recent years, one of the Pilsen competitors usually takes bronze after the winning pair and it is only a question of who will have a better day. On Sunday, she went from the start to third position Misa Baklikova, only 10 - 15 seconds lost returning Jana Zikmundová. Just before the halfway point, she managed to catch up with Baklíková, and even though Baklíková tried to hold off the fast-moving Zikmundová for a while, she soon lost to her and deservedly took the bronze in 56:06.86. Baklíková lost almost a minute to her (57:00.27). She also got under 60 minutes. Nelly Bugarova (59: 45.25), Petríková It has been going for over 62 minutes.

After 13 hours, the men and juniors lined up at the starting line. The thermometer on the building even showed 42ºC! Fortunately, they were well prepared at the refreshment station, the water was chilled and the sponges were soaked in an ice bath. But still. In such heat, one should roll around under a cypress tree and wait for it to pass. Not so our juniors and men.

For the juniors it was seemingly easy. Whoever reaches the finish line gets a plaque. Simplicity was taking its toll on the bike and the Frýdek-Místek team Vojta Novak positively surprised when he tried to keep it under 50 min - 49:27.55The second place on the podium was won by the Hradec Králové Jiří Arnošt (55:24.73)) he should also look forward to his national team debut. The hard-fought bronze medal was won by Arnošt, a team and training buddy Tomas Gloser - 56:03.94.

But the main event was in the men's category. The enthusiastic spectators cheered on all competitors across categories from the start and (not only) the men were rewarded with a great spectacle. The defending champion immediately took the lead Vitek Hlavac, which was followed by Jarda Moravek. He walked with a distance from the beginning Adam Zaječek and a little further back was a couple Hood - Gdula. Hlaváč and Morávek were going side by side and it was clear from Jard that he had the quality of 35 km from Innsbruck not even a week ago. His stride was not the most agile, he lacked the flexibility and lightness from previous races. Even so, he was not afraid to attack and after 4 km he joined Hlaváč. Vítek was unable to react and Morávek's lead was increasing. Halfway through the race, it looked like a clear order of Morávek - Hlaváč - Zajíček. Zajíček was already losing 40 seconds, but he continued to go concentrated, he did not let go of the race and gradually started to pull Hlaváček back. The stands were shouting. At Vítek, at Zajda, at everyone. Less than 4 laps before the finish, Zajíček flew past Hlaváč and went for a certain silver medal. Their duel was watched across the stadium by Jaromír Morávek, who was certainly walking for his first senior title. The performance of 41:23.98 is excellent in difficult conditions and with 35 km in his legs. Adam Zaječek defended last year's silver in a time of 42:13.88 and our only current sure participant in the Tokyo race went for bronze Vitek Hlavac - 42:27.91. I'm fourth. Albert Kukla He went under the 45-minute mark, which was a real feat on a hot track. He only managed to get under 50 minutes Lukáš Gdula (46:16.79) to Junior Novak.

We saw wonderful races in Benešov. The organizers prepared well and went out of their way to accommodate the walkers in every way. The race judges and the technical crew deserve absolution. The winners of the day are all those who dared to start in these conditions. There really are no losers and hats off to everyone, athletes and judges. Fortunately, everyone survived the hellish day in good health and hopefully next year ČAS will choose a slightly more favorable schedule. It is pleasing that most competitors presented themselves with solid technique and thanks to the penalty zone there was only 1 disqualification. Despite the high temperatures, the athletes fought with all their might and prepared us a wonderful experience. Thanks. To the organizers, judges and athletes. Hopefully we'll see you again in Benešov sometime.
