Jarda Morávek bravely fought for the 35km limit for the World Championships in Innsbruck! For the third time this year (Dudince, Poděbrady, Innsbruck)!!! He improved his personal best in the 35km, this time to an excellent 2:34:41, thus clearly demonstrating high stability of performance and he should definitely get a chance at the World Championships, also considering the perspective of the entire Czech walking!
BERICHT von ÖLV-Gehsportreferentin Gabi Schwarz
On Whit Monday, June 9.6th, the Austrian Open 35 km Race Walking Championships took place in Innsbruck.
And the race definitely had a very interesting turnout. Jarda Moravek, who is in the ranking for the World Championships in Tokyo in the promotion places, but unfortunately he lacks the confirming TIME limit, decided to try his luck once more. After a significant OR in Dudince and further improvement in Poděbrady, where he started despite problems with his hamstring, he decided to fight for the confirming limit of 2:33:00.
Vítek Hlaváč has already easily achieved this with a new Czech record (2:31:44 in Poděbrady), but he would also like to see Jard at the start in Japan. Morávek is in 44th place in the ranking and is advancing 50 men. Unfortunately, ČAS does not officially take into account the age of U23 competitors, which is where Jard falls, so they set off for Austria.
The seemingly easy 1 km circuit on the map was not optimal in the end. It was not a flat road, but a long, gentle climb and descent. And when you go 35 times… Sharp and narrow 180-degree turns° straightěthe tempo variations soThey didn't help.
Jarda fought, defeated his Indian opponents and achieved another personal best of the season with absolute confidence. Unfortunately, his personal best performance 2:34:41 At the moment, he is not good enough for Tokyo, according to the ČAS nomination criteria. Whether he will get a chance, given his age, we will see in a few months. For his approach, commitment and fighting spirit, he deserves a chance to gain experience. And again, it is hard not to admire how much Jardo's cooperation with Slovak number one Dominik Černý is going well.
Jarda was looked after by a Slovak trainer during the race. Lubos Machnikwho trains Emu Hačundová. In the spring, she admitted on social media to the big mental problems she faced due to the pressure that is put on top athletes. She changed her coach and approach. And she came back in a big way. Even at the Záhorácká twačítka she didn't even come close to 5min/km, in Poděbrady she already broke the magic limit at twačítka and she dominated her first twačítka of the year in Innsbruck in a quality performance of 3:02:04 in the solo race. A big congratulations goes to Emma too and we wish her to always walk around with a smile and to win Tokyo.
On the 10km track, the colors SMOLA WALK defended our German friend Eyrie Kiepert, to whom we thank for the beautiful photo documentation of Jard's race. Horst hung a silver medal around his neck.
What awaits us next?
On Saturday, veteran racers will compete for their titles in Pardubice.
On Sunday, the second Czech Championship in 10m walk in adult categories will take place. At the same time, junior and youth categories will compete for titles. There will be a lot to watch in Benešov. And if you don't want to come, you can support the walkers on Facebook ČAS, where there will be a stream. See you in Pardubice or Benešov.
