55th Czech Veterans Championship on track 2021, 5.000m walk, Šumperk, July 3, 2021

The organization of the national championship returned to Šumperk, the bastion of veteran athletics, the parent club of Jarmila Klimešová and the Vykydal family family. In the foothills of the Jeseníky Mountains, in a beautiful stadium, in a region of many natural and historical beauties, lookout towers, witches and Hanušovice beer. Saturday race, Sunday trip and tasting at least something that can be seen in the area. All this was to bring as many competitors and their cheering entourage to Šumperk on the first weekend in July.

Unfortunately, it did not bring more competitors to the 5.000m walking race, the participation was very weak, only a handful of the most loyal and greatest heartwomen went to Šumperk. The Chodecký race was the first in the time program at 9:00 am (at least here the organizers were thinking about the start time for endurance athletes!). However, the achieved performances were quite weak overall, yet one quite exceptional to remarkable performance would be found, namely Lenka Slabáková, who won the title of Veteran Champion of the Czech Republic with plaster on her hands !!! Admirable !!!

The most successful pair of the whole Championship were Míla and Honza Rein, who together won 4 medals !! Of which Honza 2x gold and 1x silver (spear, rod, 3km BC) and Mila 1 x bronze walk. Congratulations!
